Spring and Summer 2023

Duties:

Docent Tours of the Dixon property. This includes learning about the Mt. Carmel property, Maynard Dixon and Edith Hamlin and their tenure in Mt. Carmel, as well as Milford Zornes and the Bingham family. You will be thoroughly trained to give a professional presentation.
Historical research and making displays of photographs, prints, and pertinent information regarding the furniture, artwork etc.
Assist in upkeep of the historical buildings
Assist in the Thunderbird Gallery operations such as hanging paintings, labeling, computer work, mailing lists, mailers, promotional materials etc.
Assist with events, artists gatherings, art openings, etc.
Social media postings and promotions on FB, Instagram, etc.

Requirements:

Excellent communication skills
Comfortable with people and speaking in front of crowds.
Self-starter who can manage projects with little supervision
Proficiency in social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram)
Proficiency in Windows software and applications, specifically Microsoft Office
A background/familiarity with Maynard Dixon and his contributions to American Art is a plus but not mandatory

Preferred (but not required)

Experience working or volunteering in an art gallery or museum
Experience with website maintenance (specifically WordPress)
Experience with photographing fine art for print and web

Compensation:
Compensation includes housing provided in an RV on the property which includes utilities and wifi access. A weekly stipend for food, and other expenses will also be provided. It will be your responsibility to prepare your own meals and to keep your living quarters well maintained and tidy.

The workday here is from 10:00 – 5:00 Monday through Saturday- your schedule will be somewhat flexible depending upon need.
